Suffering from writer’s block or need to add some spunk to your writing? The problem may be that you need to change up your routine. To that end, try this tip: Foreshadowing is another tried-and-true way of opening a story and can be very useful if you’ve already brainstormed or outlined the story’s premise and characters. For example, if the book is about how far one has to go to defend themselves and others they love, you might write, “I’d never really thought about how I would kill someone though I’d certainly given plenty of thought to who I might knock off.”

Because of that, you want to post videos on YouTube to promote your titles or business. Among the elements to consider when posting there is the production quality of your video.
The lower the quality of your video – such as being fuzzy or pixelated – the less likely viewers will be to watch it. That probably means they’ll move on to someone else’s video, resulting in a lost sale or client.
To a degree, the quality of the video depends upon the video player that the viewer uses. The element you can control, however, is the quality of the video you uploaded.
You can upload the highest quality video possible by:
• Using the right hardware – A high definition camera with zoom capability and that supports an SD card (to expand your memory capacity) is best. You may need a tripod to ensure stability. All of this is far less expensive than you might imagine, especially if you watch for sales.
• Ensuring you have good lighting – Well-lit videos look far more professional than one that is poorly lit. For indoor shooting, halogen lamps offer an inexpensive solution; if outside, aim for a barely cloudy day to diffuse sunlight while still offering some blue sky.
• Recording the video in high definition – High definition is a minimum screen resolution of 1280 x 760. The ideal screen resolution is 1920 x 1080. Never use standard definition (such as 240p or 360p). Also, maintain a 16:9 aspect ratio for the video.
• Avoiding sound issues – When indoors, eliminate background noises by turning off the radio, television, appliances such as the dishwasher and washing machine/dryer, and all phones, and don’t flush toilets or turn on/off water taps. Don’t record outside on windy days as the mic picks up the whooshing sound.

Good stories center on the clashing of characters’ goals and motivations. Sometimes a character’s goals and motivations arise from the seeking of acceptance. Here are four writing prompts for stories that center on conflicts over abandonment.
Man vs. man
Two people with trusts issues because they’ve been abandoned by others suddenly find themselves in a situation where they must learn to have faith in one another. How do they overcome their internal resistance to trust and the other’s efforts to prevent a connection?
Man vs. society
What happens when a person who leaves his hometown and strikes it rich comes back willing to spend money? Will some people question why he abandoned them in the first place and be distrustful of his motives? Or will his money squelch any suspicions? And why did he return anyway?
Man vs. God(s)
A teenager or young adult whose parents died in a senseless accident now feels that God has abandoned her. How is she able to regain her faith? Or does the abandonment lead to a personal enlightenment about what being human means?
Man vs. himself
A son has not talked to his father in years (or a daughter-mother) after the parent left the son’s mother many years ago. The father, his years rapidly catching up with him, reaches out to his son. Can the son, after years of anger and bitterness, find the ability to forgive his father?
